Foodie-ish round-up

So here are some things you should know:

  1. Food.com launched in beta and it acts as one recipe search engine pulling from Food Network, Epicurious, Chow.com, Food and Wine, and Cooking Light.  Supposedly it’s in invitation-only beta… but it let me register.  So go now and sign up!
  2. Gwyneth Paltrow and Captain Obvious think Mario Batali’s fat… but Gwyneth’s the only one doing something about it.  She gave him a membership to her new $4,500 annually gym in Tribeca because “Mario is the only fat friend she has, and wants him to change.”  Interesting that she didn’t want him to change before using him to get on a TV show about eating and drinking around Spain.
  3. And only related to food because they don’t eat much of it… a new social networking site has launched just for models.  I mean, the problem with Facebook has always been the number of ugly faces.  Problem solved!  According to CNET:Modelfeed seems simply to be a site where the beautiful people can talk to each other, intermingle and enjoy slightly eugenic social networking away from the malformed, deformed and ill-informed of society.  On Modelfeed, every profile is a winner. Every face is translucent. And every post seems to be headlined with an exclamation point!”
